After finishing eight years of school, he entered medical school and graduated with honors, received the specialty of a paramedic. In the future, Vladimir Nikolaevich's entire life is closely connected with the Leningrad pediatric medical Institute, where he entered in 1972, and graduated with honors in 1978. Then he entered the clinical residency at the Department of infectious diseases in children. From September 1980 to 1983, he studied in full-time postgraduate studies at the same Department.
In 1983, he successfully defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Functional activity of the adrenal cortex and sexual glands in boys with mumps" (scientific supervisors: doctor of medical Sciences, Professor, honored worker of science and technology of the RSFSR Timofeeva G. A., doctor of medical Sciences, Professor Zaychik A.M.) and began working as an assistant of the Department. >>>
In 1984 Vladimir Nikolaevich was awarded the academic degree-candidate of medical Sciences, in 1989-the academic title of associate Professor.
In September 1996, he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on "Clinical and pathogenetic aspects of airborne infections in children (whooping cough, mumps, scarlet fever)"in the Scientific Council of the medical Academy of postgraduate education. Scientific consultants: doctor of medical Sciences, Professor Veselov N. G.
In November 1996, Vladimir Nikolaevich was awarded the degree of doctor of medical Sciences, in March 1997-the academic title of Professor.
Since June 2, 1997 Timchenko Vladimir Nikolaevich headed the Department of infectious diseases in children.
He is the author of more than 365 scientific papers devoted to the most topical issues of children's Infectology (mumps, whooping cough, streptococcal infection, etc.). Under his leadership, 6 PhD theses were defended by assistants Emelyanova A. B., Chernova T. M., Kaplina T. A., Stebunova T. K., yarv N. E., Barakina E. V. currently, he directs the work of three candidates of the degree of candidates of medical Sciences and one candidate of the degree of doctor of medical Sciences.
Vladimir Nikolaevich devotes a lot of time and effort to social work: from 1977 to 1984, he was the Chairman of the trade Union Committee of students of the Institute, a member of the Presidium of the Leningrad regional Committee of medical workers, participated in the 13th Congress of the USSR trade Union; from 1984 to 1989, he worked as the Deputy Dean of the pediatric faculty, from 1990 to 1991-the Dean for work with foreign students, since 1999-the pediatric faculty.
From 1992 to the present Timchenko Vladimir Nikolaevich-chief children's infectious disease specialist of the health Committee of the administration of St. Petersburg.
